Step by Step

Posted by Oli on Thursday 13th December, 2007

Oli’s walked up and down a flight of stairs!!!!  I’m not with him today and have no-one around to jump up and down with and scream in a happy girly way!  I am so proud of him!

He’s just called me and he walked to the foot of the stairs with the physio which is plenty far enough.  He did the first five steps and went to try the next eight.  He did the eight and figured he’d got that far and so should go for the final 5.  After a little break he walked all the way down, then back to his room AND then back to the bathrooms for a shower.  This is just fab, he has done so well today.  He said it was a lot harder than he thought it would be but is really proud of himself for achieving it.  I’m a just a big bubble of happiness right now and I’m so glad I can share it with you all!

There is absolutely no way he could have done all of that three weeks ago, he is already leaps and bounds ahead of the poorly guy who was half looking forward to/half dreading the approaching Christmas.  No matter what happens or where we are, Christmas is going to be such a celebration of new life.

Have a great day x

    Hi Oli,

Well superman…this is amazing news. You really are a dude. It is amazing to think that you can now do that when a very short time ago getting out of your pit to make a cup of tea left you far more exhausted and in pain.

Take care Oli, and I will say my prayers for you again later. Top notch and keep on truckin.

  10. Hi Oli!!!

I’ve been following your story for quite a while now… I think I learned of you through Emily and Emma — I think they ROCK! And I think you’re pretty cool too…

I’m so proud of you — and I’m so very happy for you! It’s been amazing to watch your story — I think your strength is incredible, even though it may not quite feel like it right now… Just wait until you’re out of the hospital and can run and play with the rest of us!! This breathin’ stuff is freakin’ awesome and you don’t even know the half of it yet!!!

I have CF too — I received two beautiful lungs almost 8 years ago… I’ve had an incredible ride… I hope yours is as amazing as mine has been…

I read a post a few days ago saying some messages after 8pm would be nice — I’m in Chicago Illinois in the middle of the U.S. and it took me a while to take the time to figure out what the heck time it is in the U.K.

I’m proud of you for getting through all of this — it’s an amazing, and often scary adventure — and it takes incredible strength, patience and courage to face what you’ve been facing and march forward into it… And I’m so glad you’re on the upswing…

And I’m so proud of you and Emily and Emma for all you’ve done for CF and organ donation awareness over there…

    You take care…

    Love,

    Steve
